Mississippi Choctaw

 



Chief Pushmataha (1760-1824) was the Chief of the Choctaw Nation. The Choctaw Nation was located in Garlandsville, a town in Jasper County, Mississippi, it was the Capitol of Sixtown, and Choctaw Nation.  During the French rule of Mississippi, the French came  from all over to trade with the Choctaw in Garlandsville.

During the war of 1812, Chief Pushmataha and the Choctaws aided General Jackson against the Creek Indians. He later went to Washington with General Jackson and secured the grounds for Jackson, Mississippi.
